  1. Peonies On Postcard

    October 29, 2016 by admin

I love coloring on postcards. Reason being after I finish each piece I have a nice one to post to my penpal. This one is done using Colleen color pencils and white pen.

It took me a few days just to finish one postcard as I keep getting distracted with house chores and my children.

I bought this postcards for coloring from bookdepository.com. Usually each pack will have about 20 different pictures and cost around USD5. Their postage to worldwide is free.

  2. Red Rose For Bunga Pahar

    February 24, 2016 by admin

It’s been a while since I made a complete set of bunga pahar for a wedding. This time I made this from the bunch of artificial roses I have in my craft room. It’s for a friend’s brother’s wedding in March.

The initial plan was to just use whatever leftover ribbons I have but I was short for a few rolls. I was shocked to see the new pricing for bunga telur materials in the market. I guess with the currency exchange rate and the downfall of Malaysian Ringgit value, this price hike is just inevitable..sigh!

Anyway, I just can’t wait to see how this red rose bunga pahar will look like on the pelamin. Will update once I managed to get a picture or two from the wedding.

  3. Decoupage As Housewarming Gift

    February 12, 2016 by admin

I made this for a friend who is moving in into her new home.

I bought some new paint from ebay last month after watching the demo on YouTube. The paints are from LuminArte Silks acrylic glaze range and Viva Decor Precious Metal Colour. The color looks really vibrant but when it comes to varnishing part, the paint bleeds even though I already waited a few days for it to dry. I guess it needs to be sprayed with fixative before I could varnish the board with brush.

I hope my friend will like this piece that I made for her. For this wall decoration, I used the roses decoupage paper from the class I attended previously.

  4. Faber-Castell Coloring Contest

It’s the adult coloring frenzy worldwide now. Since the magazine Marie Claire gave away a free notebook with coloring pages I decided to give it a try.

The rules of the contest is to use Faber Castell product. Since I never have watercolor pencils, I bought a box at MPH.

Not sure how the result will be announced but this is a good motivation for me to start coloring and finish a page.

  6. Simple Sirih Junjung For Bertunang

    August 29, 2012 by admin

This simple sirih junjung was made for the magazine photo shoot in June. I’m not sure whether it has been published since I haven’t got the chance to check at the news stand or book store.

Anyway, for those getting engaged or married this month and still looking for ideas on how to make sirih junjung for your event, you can always try this simple style.

Find a round container like an ice cream bowl or even an empty biscuit tin and put the floral foam inside. Arrange daun sirih all around the container. Fill up the middle with flowers of your choice, bunga pinang, kapur and gambir. I put the white candle inside the container first and fill up all around it with floral foam. Reason being I want to put the wedding/engagement ring on the candle.

Hope this simple sirih junjung will help you cut cost in preparing all the special hantaran for your loved one.

  7. Crackled Pink Frame

    April 29, 2010 by admin

I kind of love the outcome of this pink frame. It was done for the same exchange gift for a local forum which I have mentioned earlier.

This time I thought I would try to do crackle on wood. The IKEA frame was bought many years ago, so you can see some aging sign on the paper that covers the back of the frame.

I used Jo Sonja carbon black as the basecoat, applied Plaid crackle medium and then used a mixture of 2 tones of pink color from Americana as the top coat.

The napkin was bought from a seller online. The floral motifs are small and just nice to fit the width of the wooden frame.

I think I will do another one frame like this for my own use later.

  8. Decoupage Tin Collection

    April 13, 2010 by admin

Remember my previous post about decoupage tin I made – The Apple Tin. Well, I found the first tin I made many, many years ago in one of the craft boxes. It is the one with lemon motif.

    koleksitin

Now I have one with apple motif, another with peach and the old one with lemon design. There is another work-in-progress for grape motifs.

I’m not sure how many more of these fruits tin I will making in years to come, but if I find anymore paper napkin with beautiful fruits design that is suitable to add to my tin collection, I will surely make another one..heh!

If you notice, the one with gloss varnish looks really glossy compared to the other two tins with normal decoupage varnish.

  9. The Apple Tin

    March 25, 2010 by admin

I finally get the chance to snap and edit the picture of this decoupage apple tin. Well, it’s actually an empty tin of button mushroom, which has been cleaned, sealed and painted with primer.

    appletin

Remember the previous entry about the paper napkin with apple motifs? Here is the outcome after many days of working on the empty tin.

For this decoupage project, I used gloss varnish. After about 3 layers of the varnish, it looks really glossy. Actually I thought of applying opal dust on some of the motif, but I was in a rush and put on varnish after the second day of sealing all the paper napkin motifs..isk!

Maybe I will put on some just to experiment on what will happen if we put the opal dust after we already applied 3 layers of varnish. Will share later once I manage to find the time to do so.

  10. Baju Kurung For Dinner

    June 15, 2008 by admin

I decided to accompany Hubby to his company’s annual dinner at last minute. Even though the theme is Movie Night but with the limited time, I have nothing more extravagant to wear. Plus being a spouse means I have no chance to be in the best dress nomination..heh!

I still have the leftover of the beads and sequins in pink, white and clear color so I decided to add some to the floral pattern on the sleeves.

I thought of adding more to the front side of the baju kurung, but then the clear, shiny beads were no more in stock. Maybe next time when I go shopping I will buy some more to add on the beading work so that this pink, black baju kurung will look more stylish..heh!
