  2. Watercolor For Flowers

    March 2, 2017 by admin

I found the Pull Out Art Pad which I bought last year while cleaning up and decided to color this picture. Since I haven’t done any watercolor coloring for quite some time, plus I need to try the new Pentel water brush I thought the flowers will do for now.

I thought of coloring birds or butterflies but since I am better with leaves and flowers, so here it goes. I guess it will take another few days for me to finish this piece.

Oh, the Pentel water brush is quite good except the water flow seems to be more fluid compared to Sakura Koi water brush. I need to dab the brush on tissue paper a few times before I could start coloring.

  3. BungaTelur.com In Going Places

    September 5, 2014 by admin

In July, I was contacted by a journalist writing for a column in in-flight MAS magazine, Going Places. She google about bunga telur and found my website. After verifying that my business bungatelur.com is legal, she contacted me to conduct an interview and photo shoot.

In September, once the magazine has been published, the publishing company send me a copy of the magazine. I scan the pages to upload on my business Facebook page and blog.

I was invited by Puan Hasnia from RTM1 for a DIY slot on Selamat Pagi 1Malaysia on Saturday 22nd September 2012. It was aired around 8:20am.

It was a first time experience for me to be on a TV show. I was told to be at Wisma TV, Angkasapuri by 7am.

After the make up session, I set up the table with some decoupage items and gubahan hantaran that I brought along for the show.

I was asked by the producer to show how to do decoupage on the material. The host was great as she only got to know about decoupage like 10 minutes before the show. I tried to inform her as much as possible so that she’ll have some ideas on what to ask me.

Most of the question asked were expected but some I just have to come out with spontaneous answers..haha!

For those interested to combine both of the skills in decoupage and bunga telur making, you are welcomed to join my craft class. The coming class in October 2012 will be held on the 6th and 7th October. Please check the above announcement for details.

  6. Gubahan Bunga Stokin In Harian Metro

    January 13, 2012 by admin

At last one of the gubahan hantaran I made for the photo shoot last year has been printed in the local newspaper, Harian Metro.

For this particular one, I demonstrated on how to assemble bunga stokin into a set of simple bunga dulang and as an embellishment on top of the mengkuang box.

I didn’t even realize that it has came out on yesterday’s paper until I checked my blog stats. There was a sudden spikes of visitors on both the official website and news blog for Bungatelur.com.

I hope the other 3 sets of gubahan hantaran I made will be chosen to be featured in Harian Metro soon.

  7. How To Draw Flower Petals

    November 17, 2011 by admin

Continuing my effort to learn from Quick & Easy Murals by Donna Dewberry, I tried painting flower petals.

My intention is to draw hydrangea like in the above picture but I find it very hard to draw each petal close to each other. I need to spend more time practising the stroke definitely.

Next I move to the page on how to draw daisies. It is easier and I love making the dot in the middle of the flower using the tip of the brush.

After drawing the flower petals, I continued practising the leaves. I think this time my leaves look much, much better compared to the previous leaves I painted..heh!

For those interested to learn decorative painting from book, I still have 1-2 copies of Donna Dewberry’s book. Kindly contact to buy.

  8. How To Paint Single Stroke Leaves

    November 15, 2011 by admin

Referring to my previous post on learning to paint from books, I decided to try another style of leaf taught in The Complete One Stroke Painting by Donna Dewberry.

My main problem is still on how to stop on the brush chisel edge. The end of my leaf is not as smooth and sharp as shown in the book.

However the wiggle on my heart shaped leaf is getting better. My second problem is still on how to double load the brush without mixing both color. I think I have to practise the stroke at least 10 minutes each day until I could find the right way to handle the brush and load the color.

  9. Learning To Paint From Books

    November 12, 2011 by admin

I finally got all the necessary paints and medium from Art Friend last weekend. So I tried the basic from Donna Dewberry Quick & Easy Murals book.

Basically you need a floating medium, 2 acrylic paints and a flat brush. I bought the brushes a long time ago but yet to use them for decorative painting.

After following the instructions this is how my double loaded brush looks like.

Then I refer to the page where she teaches on how to wiggle the brush. Well, it looks easy but then…huhu..

Check out how terrible my supposed to be wiggled leaves look like. But what can I say, it’s my first trial, anyway!

Next I tried to paint by referring to the page on how to make the heart shaped leaf. I still have to master how to load and end the stroke on the chisel edge.

This is where I am planning to practise painting every day. I hope in a few years time I would be able to paint by an opened window overlooking my lush garden..hehe!

  10. Do You Have A Business Card?

    October 18, 2011 by admin

I think I need to have business cards since I am opening an online mini mall in a local women forum.

You see if people were to buy physical items like craft books or magazines as reference from my online store, I might as well put a business card in the parcel, right? At least if later they are interested to buy more, they will have something to remember me by. Usually if I deliver my bunga telur creations to my previous clients, those items are already tagged with my business label. So I never see the need to hand my craft business card to any of them.

I found many designs that I love at the category of craft business cards at this particular website. The thing is I’m not sure whether they will entertain order from Malaysia. (The company is based in California)

I’ve seen a local company who did a good promo on business cards but then the setback is that I have to come out with my own design to entitle me for such price..sigh! Might as well I buy a laser jet printer and print my own, right?

Anyway, I love the aesthetic touch and various creative design template that the website offers, I can imagine my crafter friends who sew and quilt would love the old sewing machine design and colorful fabrics on their business card…or beaders who will be thrilled to have vibrant design of beads as part of their business signature.

Err..I’m pretty sure I have to upload my own picture of bunga telur, don’t you think so? haha..
