I have been contemplating whether to enter this challenge held by Papier right from the beginning of December. Now that it’s the last day of the contest, I thought I should just give it a try…otherwise it’ll be one of my regrets this year..huhu!

The requirement for the challenge is as follow:

Create a 12′X12′ layout based on the Sketch above and to incorporate:

1. At least 1 Martha Stewart Puncher.

2. Minimum of 3 Pattern Papers.

3. Any product from Prima.

(Please click on the image to view a larger version)

So here is the outcome, I used 4 patterned papers from Basic Grey and the doily puncher from Martha Stewart.

For embellishment, I used a tag from the Basic Grey collection, lace from my craft stash and as many Prima flowers that could go with the layout..(err I still have tons of those Prima flowers bought since 2006..sigh!!)

I decided to put the green crocheted flower I made this year since it kinds of blend in with the color theme.

The picture of the butterfly was taken during our Singapore trip in 2008, way before my son was born. It was taken in the butterfly park in Sentosa Island. Hope in a few years time, we can go again together with dear son.

Updated: I am entering this layout to Anything Goes – Challenge 59 as well since I used patterned papers from Urban Couture and Stella Ruby Basic Grey collections

I finally completed the October challenge for Scrap-It-Lah.

These are the requirements:

The October challenge is to include:-

1. Old book paper, sheet music or something similar downloaded off the internet & printed out.
2. Fussy-cutting.
3. Hand-stitching using embroidery floss.

The most time consuming for me is to do the hand stitching. Initially I was planning to stitch the whole journaling title “sunset in Kuching” but after the first word, I have to used stickers to complete the sentence..haha! It was the first time I ever done any sewing on my scrapbook layout.

I printed out some downloaded image from graphicsfairy blog but the best part is I finally bought an old dictionary from used book store during Deepavali holiday. The dictionary is dated 1965, Hubby jokingly teased me that it might be haunted..huhu!

I used some images from Basic Grey paper and fussy cut them. Dear son and Hubby helped me punching the brown paper used as mat for the dictionary page.

The picture of the sunset was taken by Hubby while on the boat tour we took at Kuching Waterfront. It was a very short family vacation but definitely the best. Can’t wait to go for another vacation next year!

**Updated: I am entering this for BasicGrey Challenge 56 – Anything Goes as well. I used Scarlet’s Letter range of papers : Confession, Pearl and Secret and Urban Letters from Urban Couture range.

My neighbor gave birth to a new baby girl and brought home the bundle of joy in April. I thought of giving something handmade when I went to visit them so I quickly made this pink card the night before.

(Please click to view a bigger picture)

It might not be the most sparkly and shiny card that I’ve ever made, but I thought this should be entered into Simon Says Stamp Sparkle and Shine challenge. It has been a while since I’ve made a card for a challenge. The scallop chipboard was painted in pink and sparkled with Jo Sonja Opal Dust many, many moons ago for my experiment. When I came up with this baby card idea, I found the painted chipboard among my craft stash and decided to use it on the card as the frame for the sentiment.

I also realized that the color used for this card is kind of monochromatic, all pinkish and very soft, unlike most of the scrapbook layout I’ve made before. Here it goes for The Shabby Tea Room Week 62 – Monochromatic challenge.

I think I should make more girlish and pink layout or cards in the future as it made me feel so happy inside. When you are living with men (a little man included) on daily basis for years, you tend to forget how to be a pink girl at heart..huhu!

I didn’t spend much time making this card so I thought using a handmade crochet flower will make it more special. I can’t say much about my own handwriting though..it’s been a while since I actually write something as long as a poem. (The most that I’ve done these days are perhaps scribbling groceries list..huhu!) What can I say, with the modern invention of keyboard and printer post college years, I am glad that I can still read my own handwriting..haha!

So here is another entry for Scraptivations Challenge 4 – use your handmade embellishment.

(pat myself for a good job managing time and juggling life) The only weekly challenge that I did not manage to enter is the altered canvas because I was away on family vacation.

For a start I never thought we could do anything with the packaging. Since I haven’t done any major scrapbooking stash shopping spree for years, I have to dig out all my old stuffs and see whether I can find the minimum amount of packaging required for this challenge which is 6. I managed to find 7 pieces, most of them are stickers packaging either from K&Company and Making Memories, one from 7Gypsies ring book cover and the latest is the tiny attacher packaging from Tim Holtz.

Next I contacted my niece asking for her permission to use her daughter’s pictures as part of my mini album contents. She agreed and emailed me few pictures to choose.

So here is my second grand niece..heh! She was born last year in December. I thought once completed, the mini album will be given to my niece as a gift. I am satisfied enough that I get to use all this pink girly stuff for my creation, after all I only have a son..haha!

Note to myself, next time if I buy rub ons, I will use it as soon as possible. The old rub ons did not stick well to the layout. Some of the letters in the word could not stick smoothly no matter how hard I rub it, maybe the adhesive is gone after years of hoarding..huhu!

I used patterned papers from the Webster’s Pages 6 x 6 TRENDSETTER Petite pad I bought last month online. This time around I have promised myself that if I find something I love I’m going to use as much as possible in my layout and cards.

The lace and frills (as seen in picture 2, 3 and 4) were bought at a local handicraft store when I went shopping for my craft class materials early this month. For most of the pages I tried to put coherent embellishment like felt swirl and felt flowers. Of course as you can see, I have used a lot of diamond stickles in this mini album. Maybe I should get more color choices for stickles.

I also managed to use the old chipboards which have been painted in pink acrylic paint and later brushed with Jo Sonja Opal Dust. Most of the sentiments on the chipboards are stickers. I did not manage to print any journaling for this challenge. Maybe later I will ask my niece to have a look and see whether she wants to add some journaling in her own words.

Oh, check out the bright smile of my first grand niece. Both of them happened to wear the same design of outfit but in different size. I didn’t know that she has the same design when I bought the blue pink outfit for my second grand niece..heh! I just can’t wait to see both of them grow up to be happy and cheerful girls. Nek Su love you girls so much!!

I created this easel card to enter into SIL Second Anniversary Blog Hop – Challenge No.6. Please visit Jessy’s blog to see the details here – Teacher Jessy’s Blog.

The requirement of the challenge is to make a handmade folded flower from patterned paper and to use it in a card.

(Please click picture to view a bigger version)

I don’t have any circle punch so I have to improvise using a pencil compass in the geometry set I bought from Popular bookstore. I made a template of 1 in, 1.5in, 2in and 3in diameter circle on a piece of cardstock I kept from empty packet of photo paper. (Another attempt to upcycle material and save cost..haha!)

The chosen folded flower in the picture above was made using 1.5in circle size. I made another one using 2in template but it was too big to be put on a card. Perhaps I will use in my next scrapbook layout. The patterned papers used for this card is from Magnolia line of My Mind’s Eye.

My son helps me in embellishing this card by putting the rest of the gemstones when we woke up on Mother’s Day. We used some non self-adhesive clear gemstones I got in a goodie bag. His job was to pick each one of the gemstones and put them on the card and helping Mama to screw the Tombow glue cover back on the bottle.

The rest of the card has been completed the night of Mother’s Day after he fell asleep around 2:15am. I decided to make this card as a “I Love You” card after finding some Making Memories sentiment that defines Love.

I also used a crochet white flower I did many months ago to go with the MM white flower trims I embellished in the inside part of the easel card. The red gemstones are from Kaisercraft.

Overall I was happy with the outcome of this easel card. And hopefully it is not too late to wish all the mothers out there, Happy Mother’s Day!!

I almost didn’t make it for the challenge Scrap-it-Lah 2nd Anniversary Bloghop: Week 4 because my printer was out of inks..huhu! Luckily Dear Hubby has been so sweet to go to the nearest shop today (as on Wednesday) after work and bought me new inks. He even baby sit our son for a few hours so that I can get down and do the layout peacefully.

(Please click to view the full size picture)

And the best part is the new items I ordered from Simon Says Stamp 10 days ago have finally arrived. I bought Martha Stewart doily lace punch (which I have been eyeing for a while) and straight away tried the punch as you can see in the layout..hehe!

I also bought Webster’s Pages 6 x 6 TRENDSETTER Petite Papers which some has been cut and used as a tag and a whole piece has been used on the right side of the layout. I should have bought their 12 x 12 papers as well so that I can fussy cut some of the beautiful roses.

Oh, I managed to use few items from Jenni Bowlin range like the butterfly stamp, dye ink and her paint dabber in Malted Milk for this layout.

The butterfly is stamped on a white cardstock in Cough Syrup ink. I put some glossy accents (which you can hardly see the effect in the picture) on the butterfly. Overall it is such a nice feeling to be able to incorporate all the new materials and tools I bought for this challenge. At least I don’t get to feel guilty for hoarding those stash for years to come..haha!

I am also entering this layout for Simon Says Stamp Challenge Blog 2nd Anniversary – anything goes.

Who knows I might be one of the lucky entrants to get some more great goodies from their store..I wish!!

I’ve never done altered file using patterned papers before. So this was my first attempt to use all the available scrapbooking stash. And I have never done anything with this kind of brown, yellow vintage theme.

(Please click image to view larger version)

To tell the truth, I actually chose the theme because I wanted to use the motivational 7Gypsies sticker. After matching every possible piece of patterned papers in my possession, only those yellowish, brown papers “speaks” to me. It is quite a challenge for me because I usually will go for bright colors in my layout.

My favorite part would be the crochet flower with button. I crocheted the flower many months ago but couldn’t find any use for it. The yellow brown flower fits the theme perfectly.

For the inside pages of the altered file folder, I used a lot of distressing.

I used Vintage Photo, Antique Linen and Shabby Shutters distress inks. The picture mat and kraft paper were also distressed using the Tonic Paper Distresser.

This green tree by the seaside photo was taken 6 years ago during the trip to our wedding anniversary seafood dinner. How time flies!!

The chipboard bracket was covered with patterned paper and distressed with inks.

I also used Tim Holtz distress inks on the white doily to turn it into brown yellow color.

I finally get to use this Rhonna Farrer rub ons I hoarded many, many years ago. The sentiment and color is so beautiful that I feel so reluctant to use all of the rub ons in my previous creations..huhu!

For the back of the file folder, I didn’t embellish anything. I just used the Jenni Bowlin patterned paper I got from winning the Papier challenge last year.

This altered file folder will be entered into 2 challenges:

Week 2 Challenge – SIL 2nd Anniversary Blog Hop

I’m doing this birthday layout in order to take part in the Scrap-It-Lah Second Anniversary challenge. Their first blog hop is to Wati’s Creations.

(Please click to view bigger picture)

I really would love to share pictures of my precious son celebrating his birthday, but since I can’t due to privacy and safety issue, I decided to use the picture of cupcakes we bought for his first birthday.
